Your dominant self right now is The Wound.

The wound is not who you are.
It is what shaped you.

It was formed where your nature met your environment. Not just who you were, but where you were raised.What was given to you, and what was done to you.What you experienced directly, and what you absorbed by simply being present.

Your wound may have come through:

• An environment of scarcity, instability, or under-resourcing
• A home where comfort was given instead of presence
• Physical, emotional, or sexual violence, done to you directly
• Witnessing violence, abuse, or cruelty that was never spoken of and never processe
• A parenting style that taught you survival, compliance, or performance instead of love

The research is clear: witnessing abuse wires the nervous system with the same depth as experiencing it directly. Exposure is not a lesser wound. It is a transferred one. What was in the house got into you, whether or not it was ever directed at you specifically.

What The Wound produces:

• Hypervigilance, scanning every room for the next threat, long after the threat has gone
• Fawn response, compliance and people-pleasing as a survival strategy, not a personality trait
• Shame that belongs to what was done to you, but that you have been carrying as if it belongs to you
• A confused model of love, intimate with intensity, unfamiliar with calm, suspicious of kindness
• Patterns replicated from what you watched, parenting how you were parented, loving how love was modelled
• A child inside you who has never been told: what happened was not your fault. You deserved better.

You are not broken here.
You are conditioned.
And the conditioning can change.
